General Safety Rules & Regulations

There are a few general safety rules that must be followed while at this event. Please review and follow closely these requests:

*** All drivers and their passengers shall wear Snell 2000 or newer helmets. If you do not have a helmet, please let us know in advance so that we may assist in providing one for you. Usually helmet rentals are $25.00 at most tracks.

*** There are speed limits posted throughout the track areas - YIELD TO THESE SPEED LIMITS or risk being asked to leave by a track steward.

***There is a maximum noise level, set at 103 decibels from a distance of 50 feet away (except at Laguna Seca - please inquire if needed). You will receive two warnings from the track stewards - if you break this sound code a third time, you will not be permitted on the track. This is not a T.E.A.M. policy - this is track policy.

*** Please be very careful with gasoline, oil, or any other mechanical fluids. Cleanup prices charged by the track for this type of spillage is expensive, and any such costs shall be borne by the participant. Fuel spills must be brought to the attention of track personnel immediately!

*** It is up to you to make sure that your car is refueled; should you run out of gas on the track, the track officials may or may not decide to tow you off right away. Should you run out of gas, please remain in your car until assistance is rendered to you. You will be responsible for towing fees or other track-imposed fees! The best way to avoid this is to make sure you have plenty of fuel in your tank! Fuel will be available at the track, however it is more economical to fill up before you arrive. Please bear in mind that high-octane gasoline will not make a naturally aspirated vehicle go any faster.

*** Convertible vehicles without structural OEM rollover protection must have an approved aftermarket rollover bar installed prior to entering the racetrack - no exceptions. Portable hard tops will NOT suffice as rollover protection. If you arrive without proper protection, we will not refund your registration - it is up to you to understand in advance whether or not your vehicle will be considered safe to run on the racetrack surface.

**Instruction is available for all groups, mandatory in most cases for novice group drivers. If you are an advanced or intermediate driver, please let us know ahead of time that you would like an instructor assigned to you.

***Like many groups, we have a "three strikes and you're out" policy. This means if you make major mistakes, like go off the track or spin-out, we'll first black flag you in and have a brief chat with you in the hot pits. If you spin out or go off twice in the same session, we will ask you to return to the paddock so that you can assess whether you have a car or driver issue that needs to be addressed. If you spin or go off track a third time, with few exceptions, we reserve the right to ask you to not come back onto the track for the remainder of the event. You are certainly more than welcome to participate in classroom time or go for rides, but for everybody's safety, we will exclude you from further track time for the day.

***We allow passengers for all solo drivers. A solo driver is either an intermediate or advanced driver, or a novice group driver that has been signed-off by one of our instructors to go solo. If you spin or go off track with a passenger, your privelege of having a passenger in your car will be suspended for the remainder of the event. The only exception to this rule is if the passenger is one of our instructors.

***This is a high performance driver education type of event -- IT IS NOT A RACE! If you want to race, go to the appropriate race school and obtain a race license. But if you want to just have a great time with friends old and new, this is the right place for you. Over-aggressive driving will get you a trip into the hot pits. So have fun, but don't over-do it.
