"Earth Tones, Colors from Western Dye Plants" by Carol Todd is a valuable "how to" manual and reference book for anyone interested in using plants (and an insect) for dyeing fibers. This book is back by popular demand after being out of print for 10 years.. Earth Tones is a 170 page coil bound book 8 1/2 x 11". The book opens flat or may be folded back to take up less room on a counter top. The covers are printed on cover stock with gloss lamination. Based on over 15 years of research and teaching experience, this book contains clear directions for the dyeing process, and over 100 recipes. Each recipe has line drawings and/or photographs of the plant used, as well as a description of the plant and its habitat. All recipes have been tested by the author. The colors you can expect and their light fastness are clearly shown. The information contained in the recipes was entered into a database and then sorted in various combinations to create a variety of tables which can be found in the Appendices.
