FREEZING TIP

Of course a thicker poly bag will help protect items from freezer burn and that unwanted freezer flavor

but what really helps the best is multiple layers of poly bags to protect whatever you are freezing. Even

multiple layers of thin polyurethane will work better than 1 layer of a thicker poly bag. It appears that

the air barrier is what seems to make the difference, especially with freezing butter and meats. Try to

use 2 bags instead of one next time, even if you use two 1 mil bags instead of one3 or 4 mil bags

We wrap our butter in regular store produce bags, which are 1.2 mils, and place the items in the 4 mil

bags because they are stronger to resist damage in the freezer environment. We also use the 2 mil zips

or regular straight flat poly bags, which we buy through our suppliers, and then place those items in

the thicker 4 mil Poly Zips. Many Physical therapy Firms use the 4 mil and 6 mil ZipTop Poly Bags

to protect their special Gel Wraps in the Freezer from cuts by ice and prevent moisture absorption in

the Freezer, which would destroy the wraps. For these applications one poly layer is enough.
