GPS Waypoints & Tracks

Important Note:  Use of these waypoints and tracks is at your own risk!  This data should be used as a general guide to point you in the right direction.  Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy and usefulness of the data, but you should rely on your own maps and navigation skills to guide you along the route.  If you are unfamiliar with a section of the route, you would do well to scout it out on a day hike before attempting to thru-hike.  That's what we did!  The route described by these waypoints is either on public land, public roads, or on easements obtained by the Hoosier Hikers Council.  Please respect private property and camp only on Hoosier National Forest property, Hoosier Hikers Council property, or Sparksville Park.  If you have specific questions, contact Pete Banta or the HHC.

These files contain data to get you from the end of the Tecumseh Trail at Panther Creek in Yellowwood State Forest to the beginning of the Knobstone Trail at Spurgeon Lake in Jackson-Washington State Forest.

The waypoints were recorded with an Earthmate PN-20 GPS.  They are available as text files in the format Degrees Minutes Seconds, and they are available as GPX files (standard GPS exchange files in xml format).  Right-click on a link below and select "Save Target As..." from the context menu to copy a file to your computer.  You will need to use your GPS mapping software to import the data and load the waypoints to your GPS.  In the time-honored tradition of nothing being easy, Internet Explorer 8 may save the .gpx files as .xml files, so you'll have to rename the downloaded .xml files as .gpx files before importing them into your mapping software.  I can't guarantee these waypoints are compatible with your GPS!
