Like everyone else, we here at The Back Shop are very enthusiastic about the On30 Bachmann Shays. We believe this will be THE break-through model for 1/4" scale narrow gauge. This model should help bring more folks into the hobby, besides helping some of the model railroad cottage industries and parts companies.

The Back Shop has now released the first and second batches of its range of detailing parts. These parts are investment castings in BRASS plus laser-cut items. There are a LOT more parts in preparation for this locomotive.

The laser-cut "plantation"-style cab comes with brass seats and a deck is included, along with instructions, #3000, $17.95 (the deck may be purchased separately, #3001, $6.95). Additional laser-cut items are in preparation.

The next jpeg shows the Fairbanks-Morse steam-driven pump mounted on the running board. This part too, is now available (#410, $5.25) The whistle is mounted on a piece of thin-wall brass tubing available from Special Shapes Company. This allows the modeler to position the whistle at whatever height he or she chooses.
