Return to Blog
Wednesday 24 November 2003
Well, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone (notice I don't use the PC "Happy Holidays" phrasing). I'll be back with more comments around the First of the year. Meanwhile, be sure to look over the links to the right, there are always some interesting and thought-provoking items to read. One of the best currently is Healing Iraq, you will learn far more about what's going on over there by reading this blog and by checking its links, than you will from the alphabet news networks.

What a fitting end: found at the bottom of a six foot hole.
UPDATE:
From an Iraqi, and the best summing-up:
...Mr. Rubaie added: "I was so angry because this guy has caused so much
damage. He has ruined the whole country. He has ruined 25 million people."
"And I have to confess that the last word was for me: I was the last to leave
the room and I said, 'May God curse you. Tell me, when are you going to be
accountable to God and the day of judgment? What are you going to tell Him
about Halabja and the mass graves, the Iran-Iraq war, thousands and thousands
executed? What are you going to tell God?'"

As predicted by most everyone highly critical of the "media," the large protest rally held yesterday in Baghdad, and which was pro-US, anti-terrorism, was completely ignored by the ABCNBCCBS evening newscasts. CCN mentioned it only in passing, although Fox gave some coverage. Print media like the New York Times dismissed it with a few sentences. NBC was typical: they presented a segment not on the protests, but that of some French reporter following the terrorists around while they tried to kill US troops: that reporter would at the least be expelled from the country, if not arrested. If you want to get a more balanced view of what happened yesterday, check Instapundit or the Healing Iraq link to the right (it has lots of photos of the event). It's high time the "Media" starts to get called down on their totally biased reporting from Iraq.

Well, the Media and the pundits are sure having the vapors over Al Gore's endorsement of Howie Dean. Seemingly lost on everyone is that the net effect is zero, just like Molly Ivins' Dean endorsement last week: nitwits endorsing a wingnut. Who cares, it's just more deck chair rearranging on the Titanic.
What I found more amusing was the now absolutely pathetic John F. Kerry trying to be hip and cool by using the eff word. Real statesman-like, Johnny. Pour ketchup over this clown, he's done. Buh Bye!!

Here is a perfectly insane proposal to have the United Nations assume control of the Internet! Given the UN can't manage a wet paper bag, let alone a soup kitchen, this is totally absurd. However, the old adage about "following the money" holds true even in this instance: 'way down deep in the article is a passing metion of being able to tax people and transactions once the UN takes over. My, my, am I surprised?!

It seems a counter-demonstration, and pro-Iraq in nature is being organized for 10 December 2003. The surprising thing is where it will be held. (See his posting for 22 November).

Now that John F. Kerry's presidental campaign seems headed down the drain, it's time to revisit some of this guy's history. There are some pretty strong allegations made in the story, but the war medal incident is documented elsewhere. In any event, the guy IS a phony!!

Did some cleanup this morning: October's comments have been moved into the October 2003 archive, I've added a stock market report just for the fun of it, and I've added a new blog concerning Venezuela. Unless you've forgotten, they are trying for their own recall and regime change in that country. Things are a bit different than the California recall, because the guy targeted for recall in Venezuela has guns and troops. The Iraq blog I added a few weeks back continues to post some interesting stuff, a lot of which never appears in the so-called "mainstream" press. Ah, the power of the Internet and blogging!!

This article is fairly long, and you may want to save it for your lunch hour or print it out for later reading. It is a quite thought-provoking look at the Culture Wars and parallel subjects. I don't necessarily agree with everything that the man has to say, but it IS something to start the thought processes off in other directions not yet explored.
