The Back Shop offers a "Sand and Gravel car" conversion set for the On30 Bachmann flat car. This car is based on the well-known West Side Lumber Company sand and gravel car number 276, still in existence, and as shown in the several West Side books.

The framing and construction closely follows the original West Side car, with the various angled bracing and boxing. It makes for a very unusual, yet striking model.

The kit has 19 castings, made of sharp, crisp, BRASS. If you have never worked in brass before, and are curious to try, this kit is a good place to start. You DO NOT have to use solder to assemble the pieces, epoxy or ACC will work just fine. You will have to remove casting sprues and do some alignment work, but construction should not take very long, once the parts are ready to go.
